Historical Markers in the 9th Brigade Region

TERRELL COUNTY-DAWSON, GEORGIA

A plaque from the UDC for a Confederate Gun Shop, it was moved from the site of the gun shop to the Courthouse in Dawson where it may now be seen.

This plaque tells the history of the rifle factory in Dawson.  This plaque is on an empty lot as the original factory burned and that UDC plaque above was moved to the courthouse for safe keeping.  This plaque, for historical purposes, is located at the corner of North Orange and 12th Ave.

This marker is denoting the General Patrick Cleburne SCV Camp in Dawson which was organized in 1956.  It is rare for the SCV to be honored with a Georgia Historical Marker.

The following three monuments are located in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Terrell County.  Erected by the UDC these markers are dedicated to the loyal slaves, believed to be buried in a mass grave at the cemetery and this is their marker along with the CSA flagpole.
